CHARLESTOWN Nevis, March 17th 2011 - Gold house was the ‘unstoppable force’ at the VOJN annual sports meet held at the school’s grounds on Thursday 16th March. The meet was held under the patronage of Mr. Clyde Nisbett, a former student of the school and witnessed by a huge gathering which included former outstanding Educator on the island, Ms Violet Nicholls, in whose honour the school is named.
The athletes were very competitive for the most part and demonstrated that the VOJN school may well pull a couple of surprises, come April 6th for the grand Inter Primary meet.
However, the Gold house athletes were dominant for the most part and by the end of the day, their points tally was understandably referred to as a ‘blow out’.
One of the features of the day was the Teachers’ race which created much excitement as the spectators encouraged their favourite Teachers to the finish line over a distance of 60 meters.
At the end of the day, the final scores were:
Gold 466
Green 306
Blue 246
