CHARLESTOWN Nevis, March 17th 2011 - Nevis Cricket Association President Ronald Powell, yesterday made a donation of two bats to the Coaches of the two major Secondary schools on the island. The presentation was made at the Ramsbury grounds during the Giant Malt sponsored High Schools championship match between the Charlestown Secondary School and the Gingerland Secondary School.
In presenting the bats to John Maynard of the CSS team and Joseph Morton of GSS Powell indicated that this was his personal contribution towards the development of the young cricketers who he referred to as ‘talented and full of potential’.
John Maynard for his part noted that cricket gear is extremely expensive and lauded the President on his fine gesture. He noted that ‘it looks like a good willow and should produce a lot of runs”.
Joseph Morton noted that it was a timely gesture as his team was in need of cricket gear and promised that it would be used effectively and would be well taken care of.
