Mother of five wins Kajola-Kristada’s Employee of the Month award

Employee of the Month - Sherlon Wigley

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A mother of five who has been working at the Kajola-Kristada Limited since 1999 was thrilled when she learnt that she had won the Employee of the Month award for February.

On Monday, March 14, it was announced that Sherlon Wigley of the Final Assembly Department was the new Employee of the Month and would receive an award and monetary gift.

Wigley told SKNVibes she enjoys being employed at the company and that she had worked very hard on her performance to be up to par with her peers.

She said it is important for employees have a good attendance record at work and that they must try their utmost to achieve the company’s goals as well as their own.

In a previous interview with Human Resource Manager Malvie James, she said the monthly awards started four years ago and the idea was initiated to show the employees that their hard work and effort were appreciated.

James said the company has an Employee of the Month Committee which includes supervisors from each department and two members of staff.

She also told SKNVibes that the supervisors are given appraisals forms upon which they would score the employees, and the employee with the highest points from each department would be discussed by the committee.

Among the criteria for judging the Employee of the Month are knowledge of the job, quality, attire, versatility, punctuality, attendance and team building.

Wigley’s supervisor Juliette Fenton said that she “goes above and beyond the call of duty and never complains when she has to do extra work”.

The General Manager of Kajola-Kristada, José Rosa, is said to be instrumental in making sure that the employees are recognised and duly awarded.

March’s Employee of the Month will be announced sometime in April and Methlonde Rawlins of Old Road and works in the Connector Line Department was announced last month as January’s Employee of the Month.

Kajola-Kristada Ltd. is owned by the Mezzalingua family in Syracuse, New York and first opened its doors on May 5, 1999. The main product manufactured by the company is CATV Traps, which are small cylindrical electronic devices that are fitted into Cable TV wires to allow Cable TV subscribers to see certain channels or block those to which the customer does not subscribe.
