BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A bus driver is on trial for having sex with a young girl who was under the age of 16 at the time of the alleged incident.

The bus driver, Keithly Griffin of Waterworks, Cayon, was charged with unlawful carnal knowledge of the under-aged girl sometime in the month of February 2009.

According to information reaching SKNVibes, the incident occurred between 10:00 and 11:00 in the morning while the girl was on her way to attend a scheduled function.

Like all sexually-related cases, this one is being tried in camera and it began this morning (Mar. 21) before His Lordship Justice Errol Thomas.

This media house also learnt that four witnesses are scheduled to testify in the matter and the Director of Public Prosecution, Paulina Hendrickson, is seeking a conviction.

According to the prosecutor, the young girl went into Griffin’s bus with the intention of attending the function, but he decided to take her to a location on a hill between Bird Rock and Frigate Bay and allegedly had sex with her.

This case was traversed from the September 2010 assizes after it ended in a hung jury.

Griffin is being represented by Senior Counsel Dr. Henry Browne who maintains that his client is innocent.
