Middle-aged man remanded for receiving stolen goods

By: Stanford Conway, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A 51-year-old male resident of Basseterre was on Wednesday (Mar. 23) arrested, charged and remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison for receiving stolen goods.

Reports reaching SKNVibes indicated that Conrad Clarke was arrested for receiving a case of an all-purpose household cleaner called Fabuloso, valued at some EC$85, which was allegedly stolen from the Food Centre Limited in Buckley’s.

This publication received information that shortly after 2:00 p.m. on Monday (Mar. 21), employees of the Food Centre were informed that a male was inside a container on the business premises suspected of stealing the contents within.

The employees observed the male, who they identified as Clarke, leaving the container with the case of Fabuloso and was heading in the direction of Buckley’s Estate.

The police were notified of the incident and Clarke was apprehended two days later. When questioned about the stolen item, he told the police that a young man whom he did not know had hidden it in the Buckley’s Estate yard and he took it up.

He was subsequently charged for receiving stolen goods and appeared before a city magistrate who remanded him to prison until his date of trial.
