BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IT is rumoured that former world boxing champion Mike Tyson will host the Saturday night for the 15th annual St. Kitts Music Festival that will be held this year from June 23 to 25.

SKNVibes contacted Faron Lawrence, Chairman of the Music Festival Committee, to clear the air on the rumour. He told this media house that Tyson and a number of other notables have been taken into consideration.

He however stated that although the boxer might be a good choice to give the festival a boost, it may not become a reality because Tyson might not be available.

Lawrence said the committee held a number of meetings and has already started discussing some possible artistes, but no name would be released until contracts are signed.

He stated that the reason for taking that decision is because they do not want to build-up the hopes of people then have to come back and say that such artistes could not make it.

Asked at a previous interview if anything special is being planned for this year’s event, Lawrence said one of the biggest issues is money, as the government was the major financier of the festival for the past 14 years.

He added that the government’s resources are very limited, so the big bang of the festival would depend greatly upon the sponsorship they receive from the private sector.
