BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association (SKNFA) has successfully landed the signing of another footballer to join the professional league.
Orlando ‘Ack’ Mitchum is that footballer and yesterday (Mar. 29) he winged out of the Federation for Antigua where he is now attached to the Antigua Barracuda Football Club, and will be playing in the International Division of the United Soccer League (USL) in the USA.
Speaking to an official of the SKNFA, it was revealed that Orlando and Dionis Stevens were invited to trials held several weeks ago in Antigua. However, only Orlando was selected in the 26-man squad of which 18 players must come from Antigua & Barbuda.
SKNVibes was also informed that Mitchum, a midfielder, will start training with his new team for their April, 17, 2011 encounter with the Los Angeles Blues at the Sticky Wicket Stadium in Antigua.
According to a release from the SKNFA, Mitchum began his football career at the primary and secondary schools’ level. He played for several teams including Washington Archibald High and St. Peters before finding a home with Delphic Newtown United Football Club, formerly known as TDC Newtown United Football Club.
Commonly known as ‘Ack’, Mitchum made his debut with the National Team in 2004 as a midfielder and will continue his professional game in the same position.
The release also extended congratulations to Mitchum on his recent selection to the Antigua Barracuda Football Club.
