Police Press Release

    The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is seeking the publics assistance in apprehending Nigel Langley Walters of Basseterre. Walters was detained by police on suspicion of having committed a number of breaking offences and he escaped custody on 21st August 2006. Walters is 6'-0' in height, slim figured, dark in complexion, bald headed and has small facial features.

     

     

     

    Any person with information as to the whereabouts of Walters should contact the nearest police station and can do so anonymously.

     

     
    The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is seeking the publics assistance in their investigation of a shooting incident that occurred in the west Basseterre area. On Sunday 20th August 2006, a forty-four (44) year old man received a gunshot wound in his shoulder while sitting on the verandah of his home. He was treated for his injury at the JNF Hospital and later discharged.

     

     
    Any person with information relevant to the investigation of this incident should contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 465-2241, extension 236 or 466-8351 and can do so anonymously.

     

     
    In the Old Road Police District, officers uprooted four (4) cannabis plants found growing on an empty plot of land at Green Tree Project. The plants ranged from 4 to 8 feet in height and to date no one has been made accountable for the find, however investigations are continuing into this matter.

     

     The following persons were arrested and charged between 19th and 22nd August 2006;

     

    ·         Ronel Warner of West Farm was charged for the offences of "Battery on a Police Officer", "Resisting Arrest", "Obstructing and a Police Officer" while in the execution of his duty" and "Wounding" committed on 18th August 2006. He was later bailed in the sum of $5,000.00 to appear at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on 4th September 2006.

     

     

     

    ·         Jermaine Merrit of Burden Street, Basseterre was charged with the offence of "Carrying Abroad an Offensive Weapon" to wit a matchete committed on 22nd August 2006. He was later bailed in the sum of $15,000.00 to appear at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on 4th September 2006.

     

     

     

    ·         Kevin Williams and Lenroy Thomas both of Saddlers Village who were charged with the offence of "Disorderly Conduct" by fighting committed on 20th August 2006 were bailed in the sum of $800.00 each to appear at the Sandy Point Magistrate Court on 14th September 2006.

     

     

     

    ·         Steven Georges of Taylor's, Basseterre was charged with the offence of "Building Breaking and Larceny" committed on 2nd February 2006 at Sprott Street, Basseterre. George is presently remanded at Her Majesty's Prison.

     

     

     

    ·         Shawn Flemming of Verchilds Village was charged with the offence of "Aggravated Assault" committed on 17th August 2006. He was later bailed in the sum of $5,000.00 to appear at the Sandy Point Magistrate Court on 21st August 2006.

     

     

     

    ·         Dwight Richards of Stoney Grove, Nevis was charged with the offence of "Building Breaking with Intent" committed on 20th August 2006 at Jones Estate, Nevis.

     

     

     

    ·         Gavier Charles of Bath Village, Nevis was charged with the offence of "Rape" committed on 20th August 2006 at Jones Estate, Nevis.

     

     
    The following persons were convicted at the District B Magistrate Court;

     

    ·         Lanval Abbott who was charged with the offence of "Battery" committed on 1st April 2006 was convicted and fined $1,500.00 to be paid by 9th September 2006 or in default serve two months imprisonment.

     

     

     

    ·         Adrian Rawlins of Parson Village who was charged with the offence of "Praedial Larceny" was convicted and placed on a bond to keep the peace and be of good behaviour for the period of twelve (12) months.

     

     
    At the District A Magistrate Court;

     

    ·         George Henderson of Newtown who was charged with the offence of "Building Breaking and Larceny" committed 29th January 2006 was committed to stand trial at the January 2007 Criminal Assizes. He was later bailed in the sum of $10,000.00 to appear at the said court.

     

     

     

    ·         Dana Whyte of Buckley's Site, Basseterre who was charged with "breaching the conditions of his bond" was bailed in the sum of $5,000.00 to appear at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on 20th September 2006. He was also reminded that the conditions of the High Court Bond imposed on 29th March 2006 are still in effect. Whyte had at the January 2006 Criminal Assizes, pleaded guilty to the offence of Unlawful Carnal Knowledge committed on 24th June 2004.

     

     

     

    ·         St. Clair Phillip of Upper Monkey Hill, who was charged with the offence of "Larceny" committed on 16th July 2006, was bailed in the sum of $2,000.00 to appear at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on 8th September 2006.

     

     
    At the Basseterre Juvenile Court sitting on 21st August 2006 the following convictions were heard:

     

    ·         A (14) fourteen-year-old male juvenile of Market Street, Basseterre who was charged with the offence of "Receiving stolen goods" committed on 28th May 2006 was convicted and placed on probation for a period of twelve (12) months in the sum of $500.00, to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. He is also to maintain a 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. curfew, attend school and is not to be found in the company of undesirables or in default he will receive ten (10) strokes.

     

     

     

    ·         A (16) sixteen-year-old male juvenile of River Ghaut, Cayon who was charged with the offence of "Wounding" committed on 20th January 2006 was convicted and ordered to complete one hundred and twenty (120) hours of community service by 16th October 2006 under the supervision of the Probation and Child Welfare Department.

     

     

     

    ·         A (17) seventeen-year-old male juvenile of Sandy Point who was charged with the offence of "Burglary" committed on 11th May 2006 was convicted and sentenced to serve two (2) months imprisonment with hard labour.

     

     

     

    Also at the said court, a (16) sixteen-year-old male juvenile of Spooners Village, Cayon and a (17) seventeen-year-old male juvenile of Cunningham Housing Development, Cayon who were charged with the offence of "House Breaking and Larceny" committed between 6th and 15th August 2006 were bailed in the sum of $15,000.00 each to appear at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on 1st September 2006. Both juveniles were also place on a 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. curfew as a condition of bail.
