CHARLESTOWN Nevis, April 4th 2011 - Chris Mc Cormack after his stunning swimming display almost a week prior when he created a new record in the Nevis to St.Kitts cross channel swim, was at it again as he came out tops in the inaugural Tri Star Nevis Triatholon.
The much anticipated event attracted quite a bit of attention as quite a crowd showed up to witness the start of the event and many more stayed at home and looked at the Triathletes make their various rounds through the island.
President of the St.Kitts-Nevis Triatholon Federation Winston Crooke got things moving at about 8.15 am after he would have given final instructions and guidelines for the race. The national anthem was rendered prior to the start of the race,
The event involved a swim which commenced at Gallows Bay with the athletes coming around the main pier in full view of the spectators before running off the small pier to collect their bikes.
The cycling aspect of the event was probably the most arduous aspect as the pro Triathletes were compelled to do the entire island course some three times.
The race climaxed with a run which took the athletes through Bath Village and ending with a run down Gallows Bay to the finish line.
From all reports, the organizers were pleased that the people of Nevis adhered to all of the traffic guidelines stipulated for the day.
