BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A number of local artistes are putting their talents to positive use by recording tribute tracks in memory of the of Laustin ‘Jamie’ Williams, a.k.a. Big Ship, who was gunned down Wednesday night (Apr. 6).

Nicha B, C-Money, Infamus, Minister L.K, Silk and MHE One have already begun recording music that highlights their feelings on Williams’ killing.

Infamus and Nicha B have already recorded their songs ‘Jamie’ and ‘No Spreading a de White Sheet’, respectively, at DJ Rinch’s Yardtune Productions Studio, a.k.a. Upstairs Muzik.

According to Infamus, whose real name is Kervin Benjamin, he had known Williams throughout his musical career and his death came as a shock to him.

“I honestly don’t believe he deserved that and no one who died this week deserved to die the way  they did,” he said.

SKNVibes learnt that Nicha B, whose real name is Nicha Byron, was so distraught over Williams’ killing that he immediately penned the song and recorded it the next morning (Apr. 7).

C-Money, Minister L.K and Bal-G have also decided to pay tribute to the former DJ by coming together and singing ‘Nation’s Cry’.

“The way how Jamie was innocently murdered really touched us and that’s why we decided to join forces and sing the song,” said Jervin Vanterpool, a.k.a. Minister L.K.

They recorded the track on Saturday (Apr. 9) at MHE One Studio.

Williams, who was a popular DJ with Evolution Sounds before joining another former Evolution member and formed ‘Unstoppable Sound’, was the son of Police Commissioner Austin Williams and his wife Laura.

His death was the third for the ‘murderous week’ that began on Sunday, April, 3, with the slaying of 15-year-old Unique Browne and was followed hours after with that of 26-year-old Bijorn Richardson was gunned down at the basketball court in Dorsett Village.

Williams was gunned down in a yard in Buckley’s Estate on Wednesday night, while Gary Smithen of Conaree, but was residing in Nevis, was shot at Pennyless Tires & Hoses on Pump Road, Stoney Grove, Nevis.

There was also another shooting on Friday night (Apr. 8) that left 33-year-old Dnnie ‘Peaky’ Isaac of Conaree in a serious but stable condition at the Joseph N. France Hospital.

A candle light service for Williams will be held today (Apr. 10) at Ground Zero in Buckley’s.

The artistes are hoping that the songs would help inspire criminals to turn away from crime.

“What we’re singing about should definitely help because it comes from our hearts, as we’re deeply saddened about what St. Kitts has come to,” said Infamus.
