Queen saddened by death of former Governor General Arrindell

    BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, APRIL 8TH 2011 (CUOPM) – Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II has expressed sadness at the passing of former St. Kitts and Nevis Governor General His Excellency Sir Clement Athelston Arrindell GCMG, GCVO, QC, who was buried with full military honours a State Funeral Service on Thursday.

     

     

     

    “Sir Clement not only served his country with distinction as the first Governor-General of St. Kitts and Nevis, but also served the United Kingdom directly as the last Governor of St. Kitts and Nevis and formerly as Acting Puisne Judge of the West Indies Associated Supreme Court,” said Queen Elizabeth.

     

     

     

    “I wish to convey to his family and to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis my deepest sympathy,” she said.

     

     

     

    Britain was represented at the State Funeral Service by First Secretary at the British High Commission in Antigua, Mr. Daniel Carruthers.
