    BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, AUGUST 27TH 2006 -
    A Kittitian pursuing a bachelor's degree at the prestigious Universidad Internacional, in Cuernavaca, Mexico, has been recognised as an outstanding student by the University and named the first Caribbean Student Ambassador.

     

    Tabernacle-born, Sonia Boddie, was rewarded with the post after being an outstanding student during her first semester where she amassed an average of 9.8 and was actively involved in producing the University's first monthly magazine "Wake Up" in her capacity as collaborator and translator amongst many other things.

     

    Following her appointment she journeyed to Amecameca in the Estado de Mexico on an all expense paid trip by her University to a attend a seminar entitled "The Formation of Leaders."

     

    During the August 19th and 20th event, she had the opportunity to interact with other student ambassadors from other Mexican states and the region and to share ideas.

     

    "The seminar focused on three core areas being Leadership, Teamwork and Integration. I will ensure that all that was learnt during the seminar bears fruit," Boddie told the Communications Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister.

     

    She added that she is very delighted about her new post and will definitely represent St. Kitts and Nevis and other Caribbean schoolmates and the Caribbean with pride and dignity.

     

    ~~Adz:Right~~"My major aim is to promote and create further awareness of the Caribbean and what we have to offer," said Boddie, who regards her appointment as a "significant stepping stone" in her journey to complete her degree in International Relations and to accomplish her dream of being a Diplomat.

     

    The Kittitian lass disclosed that she has already laid the foundation to ensure that the university celebrates its first Caribbean Day, while presenting a concert entitled "A Taste of the Caribbean."
