Busy Signal calls on Federation’s youth to end violence

By: Cherisse M. Sutton-Jeffers, SKNVibes

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POPULAR Jamaican artiste Busy Signal has sent a message to the Federation’s youth to end the violence and spread love. He also sent condolences to the family of the late Laustin Jamie Williams who was gunned down on Wednesday, April 6, 2011.

In a 46-second audio message, Busy Signal, known for tracks like ‘Comfort Zone’ and ‘Nar Go A Jail Again’, ‘big up’ up the Unstoppable Sound group and said although Williams has gone to the great beyond he would not be forgotten.

He also took the opportunity to plead to the youths to stop the violence, whether it relates to gun or any other forms.

Speaking briefly with SKNVibes, Busy Signal said although he did not personally know Williams, he felt the need to do this because artistes and selectors work off of each other, and without DJs the artistes’ music could not be heard.

“It is not just about St. Kitts or Jamaica. Crime is all over the Caribbean and, as an artiste, I feel the need to send a message to the youths everywhere. But I was shocked to hear how violence has been taking off in little St. Kitts,” he stated.

The artiste, who performed in the Federation on several occasions with the last time being February in Nevis, added that St. Kitts is like a second home to him and the news of his entertainment colleague’s death had hit him very hard.

A number of other individuals including Busy Signal’s management team, Sharon Williams and Shane Brown of Juke Boxx Productions, as well as artiste Romain Virgo, have also sent their condolences to the Unstoppable Sound as well as family members and friends of the late Laustin Jamie ‘Big Ship’ Williams.
