BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THIS year’s 2011 Miss Labour Pageant is scheduled for Saturday (Apr. 30) at Carnival Village and will again see eight contestants from each constituency in St. Kitts vying for the prestigious title.

The eight teen beauties are: 19-year-old Davina Doras-Cranston representing Constituency Number One; Nakita James (18) - Constituency  Number Two; Crystal Boyles (15) -  Constituency Number Three; Zaiesha Joseph (16) - Constituency Number Four; Jackiema Flemming (17) - Constituency Number Five; Vekeich Connor (14) - Constituency Number Six; Sheniqua Cannonier (16) - Constituency Number Seven; and 19-year-old Zarema Pemberton representing Constituency Number Eight.

According to Vincent Fough, Coordinator of the Pageant, the pageant begins at 8:00 p.m. and the contestants would take part in five segments, four of which would be judged.

The four judged segments are Promotional Speech, Creative Wear, Talent and Evening Wear, which will be done after the Fanfare segment.

Fough said the contestants were asked to base their Promotional Speech on ‘Economic crisis affecting the region and the Federation and the way forward’.

He noted that preparations have been going fairly well and “all the ladies are onboard and have been doing their own private preparations”.

Last year pageant was won by 18-year-old Janaie Browne of Constituency Number One, who tallied 409.5 points and also won the Best Promotional Speech and Best Performing Talent segments

Last year’s pageant was spiced with a brief performance by Jamaican dancehall artiste Busy Signal, but so far no name has been released for this year’s event.

Fough however indicated that they have not yet finalised any guest act for the night, but they are considering the services of some local artistes.
