SKNVibes Knockshore Night explodes in Sandy Point

By: Cherisse M. Sutton-Jeffers, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AN intense musical heat and talent explosion created a nostalgic atmosphere in Sandy Point last night (Apr. 23), as the SKNVibes-sponsored ‘Knockshore Night’ concert reminded patrons of past annual community festivals that were held in that town.

Last night’s event was one of the many activities to promote the recently-resuscitated community festival, Black San Bang-A-Lang, organised by a group of young people who call themselves Sandy Pointers Inspiring Real Improvement Throughout (SPIRIT).

A young resident of the community named Darnel kicked off the show with a cappella performance, spreading a message of peace, love and unity to get things started on the right path.

‘Hotta Lyrics’, known for his witty entertaining lyrics and dance moves, next took the stage with an exciting performance which put patrons in the mood for later performances as they trickled onto the Sandy Point Hard Court.

The SKNVibes-sponsored event then saw a vibrant dance routine by the NG Steppers group, which was followed by I.T.Y.C and Mashall C., the ladies of Dymanized, the stay fresh rapper S.M.I, Silk and Footsy, the energised AshKanaz and Nicha B, who all kept the energy flowing with their more popular tracks.

As the tempo increased, DJs from the Xtortion Sound, Chalice Sound as well as Sweet Sister Sensia ‘hyped up’ the crowd, which had grown from a small to large one, with some musical selections.

At that point, ladies were seen ‘walking out’ as instructed by the DJs while many men stood on the side and gazed at them.

The concert climaxed with Sandy Point’s star artiste C-Money, who performed his new single ‘Sky Ain’t The Limit’ along with some of his older tracks. He also introduced a new artiste named ‘Bal G’, who gave a brief performance.

It was then time for the bands to shine and the first one to do so at 1:20 a.m. was the LightzOut Band.

Each band performed from different tents erected on the grounds of the venue, and the Grand Masters Band was next to make the ladies ‘bubble’ and the men ‘bounce and clap’.

Attention then shifted to the Small Axe Band as they wasted no time in bringing the pep and took it down to their last song.

One female believed that Small Axe was the best band for the night while another added that “I’m a Nu Vybes fan but the Axe made me wuk up”.

The Nu Vybes Band brought the curtains down on the night’s event. They kept a slow tempo at first and later got into full swing as patrons crowded their tent, jumped and sang along with most of their songs.

Speaking with SPIRIT’s Public Relations Officer Judy Dupont, she said told this media house that “the show was a success although some artistes and DJs were unprofessional by showing up hours after the scheduled time which led to a late start”.

Dupont said she would like to encourage artistes of the Federation, big or small, to display professionalism at all times, as it is essential in order to excel.

She however noted that all the performances were wonderful and the show flowed very smoothly.

The event ended peacefully shortly after 5:00 a.m.

The inaugural festival will continue this evening at 6:00 p.m. with the G2 Miss Black San Swim Suit Pageant and will end tomorrow with the J’Ouvert and Street Parade.
