Black San ends with a bang!

By: Jenise Ferlance, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE St. Kitts – HUNDREDS lined the sidewalks of Sandy Point yesterday (Apr. 25) to witness the Grand Parade which signalled the end of the town’s resusciated community festival called Black San Bang-a-Lang.

Music from the Lightz Out Band took the TDC-sponsored Black San Parade into the streets in carnival style with youths and adults bedecked in colourful costumes and props.

Three troupes participated in the parade - the Children’s troupe under the banner ‘A fit and healthy nation for Kids’, the Samuri Warriors and Princesses, and Capital History.

The parade started at the New Recreation Ground in Sandy Point and the band lead the troupes down the Island Main Road onto 42nd Street, up Millard Street and back onto the Island Main Road.

There was a short pause in the event due to electrical problems but, nonetheless, the troupes and viewers did not take notice as it was quickly resolved and the parade continued.

The revellers were then led into the Sun Down Cookout at the Sandy Point Old Recreation Gound, where winners for the different troupe segments were announced.

The Samauri Warriors and Princesses were judged Most Creative Troupe while Capital History won the titles of Most Colourful Troupe and Largest Troupe, making them the overall winner of the parade.
