BLACK SAN' BANG-A-LANG says thanks!

SPIRIT Press Release

SANDY POINT, St. Kitts and Nevis (April 27) - The dust has hardly settled and for some, their voices have not yet returned, after screaming or laughing, enjoying Black San' Bang-A-Lang's highlights. And while the taste of Black San' has not yet left our lips, the organizing committee, workers and volunteers are saying a big THANK YOU to all, for making the festival a huge success!!

The festival organized by the group of community change-makers, SPIRIT, ran from April 1-25 at various never-before-tried venues across Sandy Point. Originally unveiled last November, Black San' rolled out sensational events, all having a unique twist, to cover three weeks in April, including educational and family-oriented events and also entertainment and care-free jam sessions!

According to the festival's PRO Judy DuPont, Black San' Bang-A-Lang was an 'enormous success which taught us many lessons as a community and even as a group'.

As the festival picked up momentum, leading up to April, many sponsors, big and small, came onboard. Companies like RAMs, SKNVibes.com, Carib Brewery (St. Kitts-Nevis), TDC, G2 Arts and Positively Inclined stamped their names on events and got in on the action! Other big names like LIME, Island Expressions, Digicel, SKNA National Bank, C&C Trading, KFC and Diamonds & Pearls were not left out, as they joined corporate community partners like Daniel's Trading Centre, E & K Supermarket, Triumph Beauty Store and St. Kitts Auto Supplies. Youth brands like iRepSKN, TruCapo, and Island Expressions were big supporters as well, and the festival got a boost from the professional work of SL Services, Tombstone International, KYSS FM and ZIZ Broadcasting Corporation, and other media houses.

'Without the sponsors, it would have been very difficult, or nearly impossible, to deliver such high-quality events! We are always willing to promote the work of companies which invest in community development, and to them, we owe an enormous debt of gratitude. It was heartening to see smaller companies and even community members making donations to the festival's success. We also had donations made by Sandy Pointers in the US, UK and across the region.

'We have to thank the community volunteers, the schools in Sandy Point and all the local bands and artistes! The people of Sandy Point cooperated nicely with us for all the events, and many of our events attracted crowds from other areas of the Federation, and we say thanks to all those who made their way to Sandy Point to be part of our new festival,' Dupont said.

Dupont also thanked all the groups who partnered with SPIRIT for the events and made special mention of the members of the Police and Defence Forces for their visible presence at all the events, ensuring that the month-long festival was not marred by any incidence of violence. She also thanked the Red Cross and Emergency Medical Services for being on stand-by.

She acknowledged the Department of Community and Social Development, Electricity Department, Public Works Department, Ministry of Culture and the National Carnival Committee, as well as the St. Christopher & Nevis Port Authority for their support and close partnership throughout the entire festival.

'We have our final Black San' committee conference coming up at the end of this week, where we will assess the festival comprehensively. We have been listening to the public to get an idea of what they liked and what we can improve on for next year's festival. We are very pleased that overall, Black San' delivered history-making excellence and in future years, it can only get better!'

Be sure to leave your feedback of the festival on our Sandy Point SPIRIT Facebook wall or email it to us at sandypointspirit@gmail.com or blacksanbangalang@gmail.com .
