OAS Director, Mr. Sterret Greene | BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, AUGUST 30TH 2006 - The Organization of American States (OAS), working through its Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (CICAD), in collaboration with the National Council on Drug Abuse Prevention in St. Kitts and Nevis, is sponsoring a Training Workshop for a Secondary School Drug Prevalence Survey in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.
"The Workshop, which is being held at the Ocean Terrace Inn on August 29 to 30, 2006, is preparatory to the implementation of the actual survey that will be carried out shortly in designated Secondary Schools in St. Kitts and Nevis," Local OAS Director, Mr. Starret Greene said.
He added that the workshop is intended to provide training to approximately twenty (20) nationals who will serve as coordinators, site supervisors and facilitators when the Survey commences.
Research Specialist in the Inter-American Observatory on Drugs within CICAD in Washington, D.C., Mr. Pernell Clarke, a will serve as the Facilitator.
Mr. Greene said that a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was recently signed between the General Secretariat of the OAS and the Government of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis to conduct the Secondary Schools Drug Prevalence Survey in the twin-island Federation.
