BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A new dental clinic, New Era Dental, was launched on Friday (APR 29) at Unit Four of the TDC Downtown Plaza and its owner promises to provide quality care for families at very affordable prices.

The launching ceremony was attended by a number of well-wishers, including Minister of Education Hon. Nigel Carty, Permanent Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Health Elvis Newton and the Rev. Wilfred Daniel, all of whom congratulated and commended the owner, Dr. Ron Carty, on establishing the new facility.

PS Newton said that Dr. Carty is an example of what young people could do once they are determined to make something of themselves.

“I believe that the establishment of this dental clinic is a step in the right direction, and I also believe that recognising that Dr. Carty is a young man and the trials and tribulations that young people are currently experiencing when there seems to be a lack of faith in their ability...Dr. Carty is a shining example of what our young people can achieve once they are properly nurtured and given guidance to ensure that they succeed. From a personal perspective, I am happy to be a part of this establishment,” he said.

In brief details of Dr. Carty’s background, Minister Carty stated that he is a very respectable man of humble beginnings.

Sen. Carty also said that he is very proud of him and the good that he is doing in St. Kitts, noting that he could have instead established his clinic in other parts of the world.

“We are very happy to have you here among our countrymen and women, and we are very happy to have your service,” he said.

Human Resources Director of TDC Dennis Knight and Cleotha Steinberger of the Royal Bank of Canada were also present to congratulated Dr. Carty and encouraged him to continue to do great things.

Dr. Carty told SKNVibes that his inspiration to open his own dental clinic derived from his love of the profession and his determination to give back to the community.

He said: “When I came back to St. Kitts, I saw that I can actually give back more to the community if I am working for myself. I would meet people on the road who want treatment but they cannot afford it...it’s too expensive. Working for someone makes it a lot more difficult to actually offer a reduced price.

“I always believed in making something of myself...I want to be known for doing something in dentistry, which is my soul goal. It means that I have to invent something, do something or change something in dentistry. Basically, I just want to give back in knowledge itself whatever I’ve learnt through experience; find some way to give it back...to have it more publicised.”

Dr. Carty declared that the care and concern shown to the clients is what makes his company stands out from among many others.

“I’m a tender caring dentist. I’ll always stay in touch with my clients personally. I would always call them the day after their check-up to make sure that they are okay. I am not one who stays away from where my clients would be; I love to put myself out there.
I’m a people’s person and I tend to keep it that way,” he declared.

“Here [New Era], it is all about love and looking after people. We will always have the lowest prices and we will always be there for our clients,” he added.

Dr. Carty further declared that there are a number of things he intends to do in St. Kitts and New Era would always be the name.
