BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – RECALDO RICHARDSON, a.k.a. Jubilee John, who resided in St. Kitts but now a senior at the University of the Virgin Islands, won the Student Addy Award for Best of Show for his advertising campaign at the 2011 Addy Awards held on April 30 in St. Thomas.
Richardson won the award for his ‘I Am Drama: School of Theatrical Arts’ campaign, a project he did in late 2010 for an Advertising and Promotion Class.
“It is basically a drama school centered around cultivating people's talents and helping them to overcome whatever difficulties they might have trying to unlock their hidden potential,” he told SKNVibes.
Richardson said that his project included print, radio and television advertising and he also created a Facebook Fan Page for the campaign.
The printed advertisement was designed by Kittitian graphics designer of Vivid Designs, Coleen ‘Queen-Bliss’ Richardson.
The award was presented by the American Advertising Federation (AAF) of the US Virgin Islands and recognises outstanding advertising in those islands.
Richardson stated: “Winning this award was the crowning achievement thus far in my advertising and marketing career and called it is a jewel in the crown of my academic achievements.”
He is majoring in Business Administration with a concentration on marketing. He hopes to own an advertising agency and be a marketing consultant in the near future.
Richardson was a popular comedic personality while residing in St. Kitts. He had released several witty songs and made guest appearances on shows alongside Leslie ‘SugarBowl’ Morton.
He was also co-host of ‘Watch Dem Coming’; an online show produced by SKNVibes.
