    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – TWO men were arrested and 15 persons were issued tickets for traffic violations during Vehicular Checkpoint Operations conducted by the Traffic Department on Friday, May 6, 2011.

     

    According to Police Press and Public relations Officer, Inspector Vaughan Henderson, three operations were conducted on that day in Conaree, FT Williams Highway and Johnson Long Path in the vicinity of the Robert Ross Nursing School and approximately 200 vehicles were stopped and searched.

     

    Henderson said the operations resulted in the issuance 15 tickets and the arrest of George Welcome of Mansion Village and Narenedra Ramnarine of St. Peters.

     

    Welcome was arrested for driving while not covered by insurance and Ramnarine for driving an unlicensed vehicle and driving while not covered by insurance.

     

    In relation to the 15 tickets, five were issued for driving without wearing seatbelts, two for excessively tinted windows, five for exceeding the speed limit and three for unlicenced vehicles.

     

    Inspector Henderson stated that the operations are ongoing and he is calling on all drivers to adhere to the Federation’s traffic laws.
