Who said mothers cannot look sexy?

Mothers strutting their stuff at the recently held Miss Mother’s Day Pageant

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – SOME women believe that after giving birth they would not look sexy or maintain their good figure and they often complain about the increased waistline and or added stretch marks.

In a recent show held at Carnival Village, seven mothers, with the oldest being 39, participated in the first ever Miss Mothers Day Pageant.

One of the segments included Swimwear and all of the mothers proudly and boldly strutted the stage in their two and one-piece outfits.

Although some of the mothers did not possess the average stereotype model’s figure, they all displayed confidence and embraced the ‘skin they are in’.

It takes courage to strut half naked on a stage in the presence of hundreds of people who will be judging your appearance from every aspect, but it takes even more courage for a mother of three and more children to do that. And some of the participants fitted into this category.

Many times women are hindered from entering certain pageants because they have a child or children; for example, the National Queen Pageant. But there are some mothers who look just as good as a woman without children and sometimes even better.

Speaking with one of the mothers who took part in the pageant, she said she was intimidated and wanted to change her mind when she first heard about the Swimsuit segment, but after giving it some thought she decided to be proud of giving birth.

“I hear a lot of people say they going show to laugh because they hear we would be in swimsuit. But I didn’t care. I kept my confidence because I look as good as I feel and I am proud of my body as a mother,” she said.”

So, ladies, whether you are a mother of one or 10, love the ‘skin you are in’ and do not let anyone tell you that you do not and cannot hold certain qualities because you are a mother.
Motherhood is a gift not a restraint.
