Gyptian endorses St. Kitts Music Festival

By: By Cherisse M. Sutton-Jeffers, SKNVibes

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – JAMAICAN ‘Hold Yuh’ singer Gyptian recently recorded a promo endorsing the 15th Annual St. Kitts Music Festival at which he is scheduled to perform on the second night.

The Rastafarian lovers’ rock and roots reggae singer recorded the promo on the riddim to his ‘Hold Yuh’ song, which has been a major hit since its release in 2005

In the audio, he confirmed his presence for Friday (June 24) at the annual event and is encouraging people to go out in their numbers, while topping it off with some of the lyrics in the ‘Hold Yuh’ hit song.

Born Windel Beneto Edwards, Gyptian performed in St. Kitts some years ago at Fair View Inn after he became known in the music business for his first big hit ‘Serious Times’.

He earned the name Gyptian from his habit of tying a shirt around his head and twisting his hair like an Egyptian pharaoh.

He is known for other major hits including ‘Is There A Place’, ‘Nah Let Go’, ‘Beautiful Lady’ and ‘I Can Feel Your Pain’.

The 15th Annual St. Kitts Music Festival will take place from June 23 to 25.

The opening night will see the Nu Vybes International Band, Small Axe Band, Ali Campbell’s UB40, Bunny Wailer, Mic Stokes, King Konris, Xman and The Kore featuring Gharlic.

On the following night, seven Jamaican acts will take the stage - Gyptian, Demarco, Konshens, Black Ryno, Maxi Priest, Coco Tea and Yellow Man.

The curtains will come down with Jah Cure, Commodores, Fantasia and East Meets West.
