    Buggery trial began this morning

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – JASON LIDDIE, charged with burglary, receiving and larceny, appeared today (May 16) before His Lordship Justice Errol Thomas at the Basseterre High Court and pleaded not guilty to the offences.

According to the prosecution, on September 19, 2010, Liddie burglarised the Palmetto Point, Trinity home of Anthony Comry and stole a number of items including a Toshiba Satellite, one British passport, toothbrush and toothpaste, magic jack and pen drives, all to the total value of EC$7,222.65.

He was also charged with receiving the items and committing the act of larceny from a dwelling house.

Liddie was scheduled to appear in court at the opening of the new assizes on Tuesday (May 10) but was absent. He told the court that he was in the hospital at the time.

Justice Thomas told the accused that his case would be tried sometime during the assizes.

Meanwhile, the case of Mario Harvey and Joseph Herbert, who are charged with buggery, began this morning in camera.

The case is said to include nine prosecution witnesses and the two men would be defending themselves.

The men had claimed that Attorney-at-Law John Cato would be representing them, but the court was informed that Cato did not have any arrangement with them.
