BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – TWO men, Mario ‘Antonio’ Harvey and Joseph ‘Baa’ Herbert were on Tuesday (May 17) convicted of buggery at the Basseterre High Court by a 12-member jury.

The trial began on Tuesday (May 17) in camera and Director of Public Prosecution Paulina Hendrickson called on nine witnesses who provided evidence that led to the men’s conviction.

The self-represented men had previously claimed that Attorney-at-Law John Cato would have been representing them. However, the court was informed that Cato did not have any arrangement with them.

SKNVibes learned that both men had planned to call witnesses to support their defence but the individuals failed to show up.

This media house also learned that the men had committed the crime sometime between July and October 2010 on a 14-year-old boy whose learning ability is less than that of a kindergarten child.

Harvey and Herbert will again be appearing before His Lordship Justice Errol Thomas for sentencing on Thursday, June 2, 2011.
