Shots fired from stolen bus in McKnight

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – TWO individuals were robbed of an undisclosed sum of money and an omnibus on Sunday (May 15) while sitting in the said bus in the Frigate Bay area.

Information reaching this publication states that police at the Frigate Bay Outpost received a report of a robbery that occurred in that area at approximately 10:05 p.m. on Sunday.

According to Police Press and Public Relations Officer (PRO), Inspector Vaughan Henderson, “on receipt of the report, officers from the Frigate Bay Outpost, Special Services Unit and the Criminal Investigation Department responded immediately and investigations revealed that two persons were seated in a parked motor omnibus in the Frigate Bay area when two masked men robbed them at gunpoint of their cell phones, a sum of money, keys to the bus and took off with the bus”.

The PRO however did not provide the names or gender of the two victims.

Henderson added that police officers from all stations on St. Kitts were alerted and the bus was subsequently recovered. However, no one was held in connection with the robbery but investigations are ongoing.

This media house however learnt that the said bus was involved in a shooting incident minutes after it was reportedly stolen.

Some 10 minutes after the police received the report of the Frigate Bay robbery, SKNVibes was alerted to a shooting incident in McKnight.

On investigating, this publication was informed that a gold coloured passenger bus (HA 71) was seen driving into Fiennes Avenue from Central Street.

“When the bus was in the vicinity of Y’s Shop, a man inside the bus fired a shot at someone in the alley that is next to the shop, but no one was injured and it drove away,” a source told SKNVibes.

SKNVibes also learnt that HA 71 is the same bus that was stolen by the two masked, armed men in the Frigate Bay area.

On Tuesday (May 17), the bus was seen in the police parking lot on Cayon Street opposite the Basseterre Police Station, but it has since been reclaimed by the owner.
