On Sunday 3rd September 2006 officers of the Sandy Point and Old Road Police District destroyed by fire over (2000) two thousand marijuana plants at the Wingfield slide-in. The plants were a net result of over three months of operations which lead to the discovery of the plants being grown in areas between the areas of SandyPoint and OldRoadVillage. No was held accountable for the finds which had and estimated street value of approximately $80,000.00 Eastern Caribbean Currency.
The following persons were arrested and charged between 1st and 4th September 2006;
·Leon Phillip of Herbert Street, Newtown was charged with the offence of "Possession of a Controlled Drug" committed on 4th September 2006.
·Deverson Daniel of Upper Fiennes Avenue was charged with the offence of "Inflicting Grievous Bodily Harm" committed on 4th July 2005.
·Mashimba Boston of BathVillage, Nevis was charged with the offence of "Possession of a Controlled Drug" committed on 2nd September 2006 at CadesBay, Nevis.
·Wilson Dore of Browne Pasture, Nevis was charged with the offence of "Carrying Abroad an Offensive Weapon" to wit a knife committed on 2nd September 2006 at Browne Pasture, Nevis.
·Wendell Butcher of Farms Estate, Nevis was charged with the offences of "Driving without a valid Drivers license", "Driving without due care and attention", "Driving without insurance" and "Taking a motor vehicle without the owners consent" committed on 1st September 2006 at Charlestown.
