BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – SUDEAKKA FRANCIS is the new Miss Caribbean World and the reigning Miss Talented Teen Siobhan Phipps is Second Runner-up in the Miss Caribbean Talented Teen Pageant.

Francis and Phipps competed in the pageants last evening (May 21) in Tortola and Anguilla respectively.

Francis won the title from a field of 13 contestants and stopped Dominica in its bid for a third consecutive victory.

Along with the crown, Francis also won the Best Talent segment.

The First Runner-up position went to Miss Anguilla Shellya Rogers who also copped the Miss Intellect award; Dominica’s Jacintha Fagan was adjudged Second Runner-up, winning Best Evening Wear and Miss Photogenic; while the Third Runner-up was Miss USVI Terussa Thomas who tied with Miss Antigua and Barbuda Shenique Barry for the Miss Congeniality award.

Miss Jamaica Raecine Williams and Miss Trinidad and Tobago Sherrice Andrews tied for Fourth Runner-up and the latter also copped the Best Costume Award.

Miss Carival 2010 Iva Statney won the Best Swimwear award.

The other countries that participated were Cuba, The Bahamas, British Virgin Islands, Dominican Republic and Nicaragua.

According to reports, Francis broke down in tears as she was crowned.

She was accompanied to the pageant by 2002-2003 National Carnival Queen Genieve Hanley of Ace Management & Consultancy.

Francis and Hanley left the Federation on May 18 and, leading up to the competition,  Francis participated in several pre-pageant activities including photo-shoots that were done by a Virgin Islands-based group of photographers known as Team Fotoshop. The group included St. Kitts’ Recaldo ‘Jubilee John’ Richardson and Tortola’s ‘Master of Light’, John F. Black.

Francis’ achievement is highly commendable as she became the first National Carnival Queen in 11 years, since Nicole Gumbs, to win a crown outside of the Federation.

SKNVibes received limited information about the Anguilla Pageant. However, the reigning Miss Talented Teen and Children’s Dance Theatre member Siobhan Phipps was adjudged Second Runner-up in the Miss Caribbean Talented Teen and copped the Best Interview and Costume segments during the process.
