BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – JUST 24 hours after the shooting death of two teenagers in Lodge Housing Project, the life of another 17-year-old was snuffed out and his friend is reportedly critical at the JNF General Hospital.

At approximately 8:15 tonight (May 24), Kelvin Hazel, also known as Boopy, was gunned down in a street near to his home in Pine Garden, Shadwell, and his friend, 16-year-old Elron Wilkinson, also of the same area, was shot and is currently seeking medical treatment.

On arrival at the scene, SKNVibes observed the lifeless body of Hazel lying face down on the road with multiple gunshot wounds to his back.

He was pronounced dead by District Medical Officer Dr. Reginald O'Loughlin who was summoned to the scene.

This media house learnt that shortly after playing a game of basketball on the street, Hazel and Wilkinson were among a group of young men liming when two masked gunmen suddenly appeared from behind a building and started shooting at them.

Residents indicated that Wilkinson ran through the back door of a nearby house where a party was in progress and exited through the front. However, on exiting, one of the gunmen shot him and fled the scene.

Hazel, on the other hand, ran towards the direction of his home but did not make it to safety.

One individual claimed that the gunmen were firing shots indiscriminatingly and one bullet had entered a resident’s home after penetrating one of the aluminum panes of a window.

This information was confirmed as officers of the Criminal Investigations Department and the Crime Scene Department were seen examining the strike and entering the building.

A number of spent shells were also retrieved by the police, who noted that they would be taken into custody, along with other items of evidential value, for further analysis.

Assistant Commissioner of Police with responsibility for Crime, Ian Queeley told SKNVibes that no suspect was in custody but investigations are ongoing.

Hazel death brings to 12 the number of homicides recorded in the twin-island Federation for the year - 11 on St. Kitts and one on Nevis.

Last night, at about 7:30, 17-year-old Ikimba Bradley of Keys Village and Ken White (18) of Lodge Housing Project were killed, while Clairmont Bowrin, also of Lodge Housing Project, was shot in the groin.

This media house learnt that both Bradley and White were shot multiple times to the body, including the head.

Bradley died in the bathroom of the house within which he and a number of young men were, and White was pronounced dead on arrival at the JNF General Hospital.

Bowrin is reported to be in critical but stable condition.

No suspect has so far been held and investigations are also ongoing in this incident.
