BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THREE men, charged with the murder of Laustin ‘Jamie’ Williams and Bijorn Richardson, will be tried during the September 2011 Criminal Assizes following completion of their preliminary inquiries.

Two brothers of St. Johnson Village, Kelroy ‘C-Face’ Hazel (22) and Jahari ‘Baddie’ Bart (19), are jointly charged with the murder of Williams; while Kevis ‘Yellow’ Riley (25) of George Street, Newtown is charged with the murder of Richardson.

The three men will be appearing before His Lordship Justice Errol Thomas at the Basseterre High Court of Justice sometime in September to plea to their charges.

According to previous reports by this media house, Williams (26), the son of Commissioner of Police Austin Williams and his wife Laura of Bay View Gardens, was killed after being shot multiple times to the body while in an abandoned yard in Buckley’s Estate shortly after 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2011.

An autopsy performed on Williams’ body by Forensic Pathologist of Stephen Jones of Barbados revealed that he died as a result of gunshot injuries to the head, chest and abdomen with haemorrhage and shock.

Richardson, who was also 26 years old and resided at Wellington Road, was an employee of the Parks and Beaches Unit and was shot to death on the basketball court in Dorset Park, Basseterre at about 8:20 a.m. on Monday, April 4, 2011.

Dr. Jones also performed an autopsy on his body, which revealed that he died as a result of gunshot injuries to the neck and chest with haemorrhage and shock and cervical spinal injury.

At the time of the three men’s arrest, the High Command of the Police Force extended sincere thanks and appreciation to the general public for their assistance.

According to Inspector Vaughn Henderson, the Police Press and Public Relations Officer, the High Command of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force thanked the public for their support in the arrest of the three murder accused.

“The High Command of the Police Force extend sincere thanks and appreciation to the general public for their much valued assistance in the arrests of the three accused. The High Command are also calling upon the general public to continue to work closely with the police to help bring a speedy resolution to the recent upsurge in serious crimes. And the police and the community must remain committed in working together to achieve this goal,” he said.
