Phase II of La Valle Development |
BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, SEPTEMBER 6TH 2006 - The commencement of Phase II of the La Valle Development Project a joint initiative with the Federal Government of St. Kitts and Nevis through La Valle Greens Limited and Unit Trust of Trinidad & Tobago has begun.
Phase I which includes the construction of a US$12 million championship golf course with Club House, the installation of a US$5 million Desalination Plant, installation of a $US$5 million 2.5 megawatt power plant and a Plant Nursery is about 75 percent complete and still needs to realise the completion of 9 holes and the construction of the Club House.
Phase II commenced two weeks ago and will include the construction of roads, the installation of the utilities, the maintenance of the golf course and the construction of model villas.
Forty full time persons have been employed. Several women, who previously worked in the closed sugar industry have found employment and maintains the golf course and nursery. Another 24 young men from the neighbouring villages have been hired by the main contractor, Roland Stanley Limited, and four other sub-contractors to build a temporary fencing to secure the construction site.
The construction site has had to be fenced to secure the million dollars worth of equipment and building materials; prevent the indiscriminate and unauthorised use of the property and livestock from damaging the landscape and destroying the floral trees and other ornamental shrubs already planted.
~~Adz:Right~~An appeal is being made to owners of vehicles to desist from driving on the property which has several man-made lakes that hold millions of gallons of water and youths are advised against swimming in the man-made lakes which could be dangerous.
Arrangements have been for the local fishermen to have access to the sea and the residents to have access to the beach.
