, St. Kitts., 6th September, 2006 -   Cuisine ranks in the top three, in a list of unforgettable experiences on the island.  Distinctive, excellent, tasty, consistently good; are just some of the views given by visitors to the island, when asked to describe the quality of the meals had on St. Kitts.

The Ministry of Tourism, Sports & Culture is very much aware of this aspect of the islands' character and has sought to partner with tourism stakeholders to give it the prominence it deserves.  Amongst the associated activities of Tourism Week 2006, are a number of events geared towards knowledge sharing and sparking creativity in the creation of various meals using local produce.

A hands-on food & desert preparation workshop is being hosted by the St. Kitts-Nevis Hotel & Tourism Association (HTA) on October 3rd -4th, 2006.  While on Thursday 12th October, the Tourism Week committee, will organise a competition on the preparation of appetizers, entrees and deserts along with demonstrations on how to prepare wine, the national dish and other items.

"These events are opportunities to encourage the use of local produce in creative ways and should contribute to maintaining the islands' reputation for good food, " said Unoma Allen, Corporate Communications Manager, St. Kitts Tourism Authority.

The theme for Tourism Week is:  Preserving our Natural and Cultural treasures: Key to Sustainability, and will run from October 8th-14th, 2006.
