BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FIVE young vibrant beauties have been named to compete in the Miss Green Mist Green Valley Pageant scheduled for Friday, June 10 at The Sandbox – Maynard’s Park in Cayon.
The contestants who will vie for the 2011 title are Latoya Caesar, Micayan Dore, Cherane Fyfeild, Shadia Dore and Lynnika Small.
According to Pageant Coordinator Sheila Morris, the beauties would compete in Promotional Speech, Talent and African Wear after they have warmed up to the audience in the Fanfare Segment.
The pageant is being held as part of the celebrations for the 15th Annual Green Valley Festival under the theme ‘Bring Your Cultural Spirit, Make Green Valley A Hit’.
The event will also see a number of young calypsonians competing for the 2011 Junior Sandbox alypso Monarch title.
In a recent interview with the Green Valley Festival Chairman, Vernon Benjamin, he expressed the hope that both the junior and senior calypso shows would have 15 competitors to commemorate the 15th Anniversary.
However, speaking this morning with one of the organisers, she said that they were not able to reach that number, and they are still uncertain of the amount of junior calypsonians who would be participating.
The reigning Queen is Ivanka James while Lord Scribbles holds the Junior Calypso title.
The Green Valley Festival will host its official opening on Thursday, June 9 and ends on June 13.
