BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FORMER Kittitian footballer Ajani Millard is hospitalised in the US following an accident yesterday (June1) in the Lutherville-Timonium area of Baltimore County.

According to the Baltimore Sun website, police officers received a call at around 11:42 a.m. about a collision involving a truck on Dulaney Valley Road.

The truck, which was driven by 26-year-old Sheldon Mitchell Walker, reportedly crashed into a tree and Walker succumbed to his injuries at the Sinai Hospital in Baltimore at 5:33 p.m.

Thirty-year-old Millard, who was in the front seat, and another passenger, Peter Duffy (27), were taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

It is reported that both men suffered life-threatening injuries and Duffy was in critical condition.

The site stated that while Walker was driving the Ford F-350 truck north on Dulaney Valley Road, he travelled across the southbound lanes, collided with the west curb, a fence and then a large tree.

The vehicle sustained extensive front-end damage, which caused both passengers and the driver to be trapped within. However, investigators found there was no evidence of alcohol or drug use.

According to one of Millard’s family members, he suffered a broken leg, hand and contusion to his lungs, and has already undergone surgery and is scheduled for another.

Millard is a former member of the Garden Hot Spurs and the St. Kitts National Football team.

He was employed at S L Horsford’s Shipping Department while living in St. Kitts.

The family member explained that the three Environmental Chemists were co-workers and were heading to a job site when the accident occurred.
