BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – NEIL HARVEY and Joseph Gardener were on Thursday (June 2) at the Basseterre High Court of Justice found guilty of wounding with intent but not guilty of unlawful wounding of a man in Dieppe Bay.

Harvey and Gardener were convicted of wounding St. Clair Elliott at an event held at Beaumont Park on April 5, 2010.

Junior Matthew, who was also charged with the offences, was found not guilty on both.

The prosecution had called four witnesses to support its case, including the victim who said that he was stabbed by all three of the accused on the day of the incident.

Elliott told the court that he was stabbed sometime around 7:00 p.m.

The victim said that he was ‘jamming’ at a session at Beaumont Park which followed the horse races that ended around 6:00 p.m.
Elliott said that he was first stabbed by Gardener then by the others to various parts of his body.

He told the court that he knew the three accused and had recognised them during the incident because the lighting in the area was good.

The court also learned that the injuries Elliott received were life threatening.

The three accused were self-represented and Harvey and Gardener are scheduled to be sentenced on Thursday, June 16, following a social inquiry report.

Meanwhile, Carl Warner, who pleaded not guilty to indecent assault of a female on August 28, 2010 in Lodge, case began on Thursday (June 2).

He is being represented by Attorney John Cato.

Another sexual matter involving Kurt Prentice is also expected to begin soon. It is alleged that Prentice committed the crime of buggery in Newton Ground between February 5-6 2011.
