Vallimar Jansen sings with ICCS Students

ICCS Press Release

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, June 3, 2011 - Vallimar Jansen, renowned African-American opera and Gospel singer took time from her busy schedule to address and sing with the students of Immaculate Conception Catholic School on Friday, June 3rd, in the Co-Cathedral.

The assembly, hosted by the Miss Heyliger’s Fifth grade class, focused on Peace and unity of people.

Jansen, who is a noted Catholic Inspirational speaker, provided a reflection on the gospel reading for the day.  She spoke with students, K through Form 4, about the importance of believing that “Nothing is impossible with God”, the ICCS motto.  Her central point was that as people within the world, we are the instruments of peace; each of us is responsible for creating a peaceful world through our actions with others.  Throughout her conversational method of speaking, students responded and were enlightened with understanding and the message of “Peace”.

Teaching students the words and actions to, “Marching in the Light of God”, Vallimar Jansen developed an atmosphere of praise and worship which resounded throughout the church.  Clapping, singing, and dancing, students proclaimed their love of God and their intent to follow Him with their heart, soul and words.

Closing the reflection, Vallimar sang a blessing song, whereby students provided motions of blessing around them and within them.  Ms. Heyliger’s class thanked Mrs. Jansen for her words of reflection and sharing her voice in praising God.

The 450 students, faculty, staff, and local community members within the Co-Cathedral were moved to thunderous applause as Vallimar Jansen acknowledged the schools’s vote of thanks.
