    BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, SEPTEMBER 8TH 2006 
     - Lawmakers in St. Kitts and Nevis are expected to approve legislation Friday aimed at strengthening its borders.
    Minister of National Security and Immigration, Hon. Dwyer Astaphan takes to the National Assembly a bill that imposes an obligation on the master of an aircraft or ship to transmit passenger data to the immigration authority in advance of the arrival in St. Kitts and Nevis.
     
    The Immigration (Amendment) No. 2 Bill, 2006 also imposes a fine of EC$275,000 on the master of an aircraft or ship who intentionally or recklessly fails to transmit the data required, transmits incomplete or false data or fails to transmit the data before departure from the last port of call for St. Kitts and Nevis.
     
    Masters of aircraft or ships must submit the flight and vessel identification, schedule departure and arrival date and time, last port of call and number of passengers on board.
     
    Individual data relating to each passenger to be submitted include official number of passport or other travelling document, issuing state, expiration of document, name, nationality, date of birth and gender of each passenger; visa number, place and date of issue; details of primary country of residence, destination address, place of birth, travelers' status and passenger name record locator number.
