This second training component, which targets Advanced Security Supervisors and middle managers within the security forces; intends to provide participants with a better understanding of their role in and the importance of tourism security to the tourism industry, according to National Security Programme Coordinator, Supt. Ivor Blake.
Participants will be able at the end of the exercise, according to Supt. Blake, to identify criminal and security threats while supervising a response; to effectively communicate with the public, law enforcement and other security officials ~~Adz:Right~~and to supervise routine security operations and manage large groups of people.
"St. Kitts is also serving as the hub for regional participation on this programme, as the 44 persons taking part will come from throughout the Eastern Caribbean as well as the Bahamas and Trinidad and Tobago in the north and south, respectively," he says.
The training will be conducted by a team of security experts comprising FBI officers who specialise in event security management.
Course exercises are expected to commence following a brief opening ceremony at NEMA Headquarters, Buckley's Site, on Monday, 11th September, from 9am. The programme will conclude with respect to the pilot phase of the ITRS exercise, with a session on Tourism Crime and Security geared towards strategic level managers. This third component is expected to be held in St. Lucia, from 25th to 29th September, 2006.
