The Cabinet Secretariat of the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis wishes to

advise the general public that effective today, Monday September 11, 2006,

the Honourable Delano Bart retires as Attorney General after serving eleven

years of sterling service to the Government and people of the Federation.

Acting in accordance with the advice of the Prime Minister, the Hon. Dr.

Denzil L. Douglas, the present Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr. Dennis

Merchant, will fill the post as the new Attorney General.

The oath of office will be administered by Resident Judge of the Eastern

Caribbean Supreme Court, Mr. Justice Francis Belle, at a brief ceremony to

be held at Government House at 10:00 A.M. today.

The administrative process pertaining to the name of the new Director of

Public Prosecutions has been initiated and Mr. Merchant's successor will be

announced shortly.
