    Antigua and Barbuda’s new Prime Minister, the Hon. Baldwin Spencer.
    BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (APRIL 6TH 2004)
    - St. Kitts and Nevis Minister of Tourism, Commerce and Consumer Affairs, the Hon. Dwyer Astaphan met and held discussions last Friday with Antigua and Barbuda’s new Prime Minister, the Hon. Baldwin Spencer.
     
    A statement from the Ministry of Tourism said the meeting was also attended by Antigua and Barbuda’s new Minister of Tourism and Foreign Affairs, the Hon. Harold Lovell and the Minister of Finance and Economy, the Hon. Dr. Errol Cort.
     
    “The meeting, essentially a courtesy call by the St. Kitts & Nevis Minister, lasted about 30 minutes and included further congratulations to Prime Minister Spencer and his new Government and an invitation to strengthen the bonds of co-operation and collaboration between ministries of both Governments,” said the release.
     
    Prime Minister Spencer and his two colleagues expressed great interest in activities, approaches and projects being undertaken by the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis and committed their Governments to mutual exchanges and to advancing the relationship between the two Leeward Island sister-Nations.
     
    According to the statement, Minister Astaphan was guest appearance on the popular Observer Radio Talk Show “Voice of the People,” hosted by Mr. Winston Derrick.
     
    During the radio programme, the Minister Astaphan, “who is very popular on Antigua, received many calls welcoming him to Antigua and congratulating the Labour Government of St. Kitts & Nevis on its significant achievements over the past 8 ½ years.”
     
    The Ministry said callers to the programme was now Antigua & Barbuda Minister, Hon. Wilmoth Daniel, while another, Education Minister, the Hon. Bernard Joseph, said that he would be visiting St. Kitts shortly to meet with the Federation’s Education Minister, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris.
     
    Minister Astaphan has expressed the view that the new “UPP Government will be joining hands with the Douglas Government in St. Kitts and Nevis as the UPP steps forward with its agenda for the people of Antigua and Barbuda and in pursuance of its commitment to regionalism.”
