I AM A WOMAN ABOVE EVERYTHING ELSE.

By: Mutryce A. Williams
    Mutryce A. Williams
Don't you dare tell me who I am!
Or even who you think I should be,
Don't you dare try to make me feel cursed!
    Worthless,
Or sorry for God making me, ME,
Don't you dare say that I will forever be plagued by what you guys call 'Penis Envy'
I hope you don't find this too startling,
Here let me share this secret with you,
I love being me...for I am a woman above everything else,

Don't say that I am wretched,
Don't you dare say that I am frail, fair, weak, meek and helpless!
And oh no don't you dare say that I am nothing but a woman,
    I am someone,
I have worth...I know my value...
    I am strong,
    I am your equal...I a gem
I am proud to have been created, 'A woman above everything else.'

Why do you think it relevant to constantly remind me about the Eve's, Delilah's and Jezebel's?
Is that all you know, my lad?
Because there were Mary, Ruth, Esther and Naomi...

Another secret my lad... Just in case you did not know
Some leaders are actually born women...
I have the evidence to show...
And because of this I hold my head high each day,
And carry about my business and pray...
Saying, 'Thank you God, for making me a woman above everything else!'
'"he battle for excellence, for credentials, has to be fought every day. We women have to validate ourselves as women wherever we are every day, and we don't have it easy because as a  women, we have to stand up to tremendous discriminatory practices, whether inherited traditions, whether imposed norms, male perceptions of power and control. As women we have to go through that and My lad I say I definitely take no privilege for granted."

The right to bodily integrity and autonomy,
    The right vote,
The right to hold public office,
    The right to work,
    The right to fair wages,
    The right to own property,
    The right to education,
    Marital, parental and religious rights
The right to enter into legal contracts,

And even though it may be a constant struggle, I am not fazed,
Because there is immense pride in being a woman above all else...
And if I have not convinced you,
That there is just something tremendously special about being a woman...
Just ask yourself where you'd be had she not been a woman above all else!
