Basseterre, St. Kitts - On Saturday 16th September 2006, National Heroes Day, the eighty (80) residents and staff were treated to a Heroes Breakfast prepared by the members of the Rotaract Club of St. Kitts, along with Rotarians of the sponsor Club.
The sumptuous menu consisted of variety of fruits, hot beverages and an assortment dishes prepared by members to show appreciation to the persons who have made contributions to the development of Society or who are sometimes forgotten.
According to Community Services Director, Dominic Matthew, the project which was first organized in 2002, has become an Annual event on the Club's Calendar, as it is one of the many ways the Club gives by to the Community.
"Our members look forward to this activity since we first started in 2002. Every year the general membership eagerly looks forward to coming to the Cardin Home to prepare and serve breakfast.
The Annual breakfast continues to provide the ideal opportunity to show appreciation to the persons who have made contributions to our society and to show appreciation for persons who may have been forgotten by our society. These persons, at one stage or another, made some contribution to our society and we should remember to show our appreciation for the impact they would have made on our society and by extension, us, stated Matthew
After the breakfast, the members took the opportunity to fellowship with the residents sharing stories, singing, and even dancing. The management and staff offered words of appreciation and thanked the Rotaractors for taking time to not only to provide a delightful breakfast for the residents but also to socialize and fellowship with them.
