By: PAM Weekly Political Broadcast
    This is Voice of Change.....

The weekly broadcast presented by the People's Action Movement, the first and the next government of our Nation.....

The wind of change shook St. Kitts and Nevis when PAM Leader, Lindsay Grant, delivered the keynote at the People's Action Movement's 45th annual convention.

In response to wide public demand, PAM presents the first in a series of excerpts from Lindsay Grant's rousing and wide ranging address to a packed convention hall and a worldwide radio and internet audience....

The Leader of the People's Action Movement...

    Lindsay Grant:

    Friends and Colleagues,
    Brothers and Sisters:

Thank you for your ringing endorsement.

I have the feeling that you are ready for change in St.Kitts and Nevis.

    Are you ready for change?

Is our Party ready for change?

Is our country ready for change?

    The "Ayes" have it!

    We are ready for change!

The Kittitian and Nevisian people are ready for change!

The people are ready for a PAM government again.

Two weeks ago, the Peoples' Action Movement opted for change in our nation, when you opted not to change your leader.

I again thank my colleagues for re-electing me Leader of our great party.

    Brothers and Sisters;
    Friends and Colleagues:

I am humbled by the honour that the Peoples' Action Movement has conferred upon me in again calling upon me to lead our Party.

This decision means that you have given me the challenge, and the opportunity, to lead PAM to victory in the upcoming General election.

By re-electing me, you have given me the opportunity to be the third prime Minister of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.

You have given me the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of my illustrious predecessor, the architect of St. Kitts and Nevis' independence and our country's first Prime Minister, Doctor, The Right Honourable Sir Kennedy Simmonds.

Let us extend our heartfelt gratitude and good wishes to Sir Kennedy for all that he has done for our party, for our country, and for the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.

    Ladies and Gentlemen;
    Friends and Colleagues:

It is fitting that in the twenty-fifth year of St. Kitts and Nevis' Independence, the party that led our islands from Crown Colony status to Sovereign Statehood should be poised to form the next government of this nation.

You will agree with me that a majority of Nevisians and Kittitians, beyond this gathering, beyond this city, and beyond our shores hold strongly to the view that the time has come for change.

    Now is the time!

Now is the time for the good people of St.Kitts and Nevis to link arms and join hearts in the mission to rescue our country from the insatiable greed, the corrosive corruption, the increasing callousness and the galloping dictatorship of the Denzil Douglas regime.

The Denzil Douglas regime has brazenly betrayed the people's trust.

The Denzil Douglas regime has put personal interests before the people.

The outgoing Douglas government has used public office to enrich themselves and to divert public assets into private pockets.

The giveaway of enormous chunks of our island's landmarks to foreign connections.

A recent example of this is the Prime Minister's recent gift of close to two hundred acres of prime land at Kittitian Hill to a foreign concern, which has absolutely no experience, no record of accomplishment in resort development or operation.

Officials of the Douglas government and their connections have become millionaires while pauperising untold thousands of our own citizens.

They have concentrated on increasing their private assets while taking our country into a $2 Billion valley of debt.

When the PAM government left office, the national debt was a small fraction of what it is today.

The debt has now ballooned to ten times what it was when PAM was running the country.
