My attention has been drawn to a statement attributable to and written by Mark Brantley on Nevis Politics.com. The statement is a reference to statements I allegedly made at MEMS on Saturday last. The statement purported to say that the I said “Blood will run in Nevis in the upcoming elections. I have allowed all and sundry to respond and comment on the Net. Let me state at the outset that though I consider the statement libelous and defamatory I will never move the Court in defense of my character and integrity. So anybody who wishes to comment and say the worst or the best about me can do so. My life is and remains an open book. Anybody can search every page of my heart and veins for that matter.
Now to the matter of hand. Let us recite the facts. I have not been in the habit of late of going by MEMS for various reasons. One such reason being that I do not wish to be in the company of Mark Brantley. I have found him after much reflection and consideration personally, professionally and politically obnoxious. I am also aware that I am Hensley’s sole brother on the island and all the moves and statements I make may prejudice his politics and his desire and deservedness to be re-elected. I am aware that the challenger will stoop to any lengths to beat Hensley. That notwithstanding I journeyed by MEMS on Saturday arriving there at approximately 4.30 p.m. I did not meet Mark there. If I had I would not have taken my seat under the mango tree at the local parliament. I met under the mango tree, Messrs Fitzroy Warner, Rudy. Carl Manners and Denrick Liburd. Carl and Fitzroy are not normal members of the local parliament. I asked Denrick what are they doing here and promptly took my seat. I had already ordered a piece of boiled fish and garlic bread.
In time Mark and his political acolyte and surrogate Asunder came to the table. They seem in a hurry. Mark is the one who stated in an accusatory manner that Nevis people living in St.Kitts were planning to come to Nevis to vote in the election and he was going to lock them up. The table joined him in condemning that practice and accusing NRP of going out of its way to encourage it. All the other people around the table were of a particular opposition to the NRP. I said well if people from England, North America and India can come here and vote why can’t a Nevisian living in St.Kitts. They were up in arms. Mark and all his henchmen jumped to their feet in loud condemnation and said NRP mashing up the country and if Nevisians and Kittitians in St.Kitts come up here to vote they going insure that blood confront them and blood will run in Nevis. That consummate buffoon Asunder went further and said that he is prepared to kill for whatever. I promptly rejoined in calm and cool term “and be killed.” He ask me if I like him am prepared to take a bullet in the next election I told him that he can take a bullet because his life amounts to not much and is no use to anybody but mine has value and much use to many people. All this time Mark Brantley was there urging on his troops against the lone NRP ranger. When I pointed out that they are against the good people who live and work on Nevis they repaired to their own corner and left the table well alone. We had earlier engaged in some more political debates centering around Mark’s infamous quote of “snouts in the trough” and the Cherry Gardens Housing. I had pointed out to him that there are some CCM candidates and workers who have not done a smiggin of work since 2006 and are waiting not only to put their snouts but their whole body and soul in Nevis’ trough.
Those are the facts and how this matter came to be put on the net. Now here is the analysis. Three persons including myself started the practice of going by MEMS every Saturday afternoon to have a little goat water and light chatter since 1994. The practice expanded to include Mark, doctors, lawyers, contractors and the list of who’s who on Nevis. We have discussed everything from politics to sex through neaga business, medicine, real business, who have money who broke, who bite who and who smart out who. These sessions have been lighthearted spoken in the relaxed atmosphere of that mango tree. Whatever complaints we have with MEMs or whoever we have carried on that bench sometimes as many as twenty-five bonhomie Nevisian boys. Girls pass there get the plaudits and people come and buy a round. MEMS I believe get a good sale there every Saturday like no other day. What could be this political obnoxious fool objective of going on the Net with anything said up at MEMS. Even if it is going to get you some immediate political gratification look at the implications of betraying a light=hearted moment and destroying a lady’s business. Now nobody is safe by saying anything at MEMS. Mark Brantley has put paid to that. I would think five times before returning there to make any statement whether political or otherwise. Thanks to this obnoxious politician who wishes moments of glory. When Doc and Everton come to Nevis and pass by the Parliament I wonder if whatever is said in their presence will be put on the net too? What a small boy and coward. People could see how he had no small boys days.
Check this out. A man comes to accuse you of something makes an inflammatory statement and then says it is you. Sounds familiar eh. Take this lady who hits her man a slap and runs to the police station saying that man there has hit me. I have been done this by many a person in my life. I recall as a small boy and you talk to a girl, a fella comes and says all kinda things about said girl because he wants you to leave her alone. When you pass by the girl then you see that same fella trying his best to talk to said girl. Leave her alone alright. For him. That culprit becomes the complainer. Perhaps only a lawyer has honed these skills: to accuse a person of the same thing you are doing. They call it bluff in the law. Shakespeare would say of Mark “methinks thou complaineth too much”. When CCM going to SKB for votes they make sure accuse NRP of doing the same. In this present scenario it is Mark and his henchmen who came to the table where I the lone NRP was there eating my Saturday fish as I am wont. He makes these inflammatory and damaging statements and then runs to the net to say I say so. Shame on a man who wishes to be in leadership position in this country. Que Lastima. Ce Dommage. I have already told the NRP whatever this obnoxious politician accuse you of check out see if he not doing it. I had reason early in the piece to speak to Mark about his manner of politicking and how he can be damaging to the good people of Nevis. I referred to his fireworks above Brown Hill and his placement of his two precious and young daughters ,9 and 7 years of age, at the head of a Culturama Parade with a placard loudly saying please vote for my dad. He has glibly replied that I can stop there he has an election to win.
That matter of having an election to win and one he cannot be allowed to win can drive the CCM and may well have driven them to using criminal behavior to get people dis-affected from the good in this land. I shall shortly be committing to writing my considered view that CCM is using and peddling crime along with the new political sensation the TEA Party led by some foreign Republicans in Nevis to affect change in our political set-up. Here is my hope that CCM is not targeting me to visit me with crime and when that happens say that I had said that blood was going run in Nevis. I am sure they will say that those who live by the sword die by the sword. I done see where this complaint is leading. The political writing is on the wall the good people of Nevis will not be changing their government for performance matters and the government has performed. They have some foreign Caucasian element who holds meetings with the CCM at a seaside resort, throws cocktails for their leadership and planning have a party in honour of obnoxious and The Bank of Nevis lady. There are already plans to have bogus break-ins and robberies organized by their own elements during the elections to affect the outcome. Their last hurrah is to change the leadership of the CCM at the last moment because they say the present leader has had his chance and he cannot compare favourably with Parry when it comes to crime.
I Hastings R. Daniel make it bold to say that I am and have been a man of peace from a political party and family of peace, progress and prosperity. I apologise for having to involve so many private persons who were “cooling off” by MEMS and to MEMS herself but these accusations were bitter and cowardly. That coward must be blamed for this holocaust. He is a dillar. He has plenty of a dollar. However he comes to school very very late at 10 o’clock. Before God and Man MY HANDS ARE CLEAN! SELAH
