Poison Ivy

Ivy Adams is being treated by the Douglas-led Labour government like she is indeed the poison ivy.  Every where she goes the woman is uprooted and in the manner that an unwanted poisonous plant is gotten rid of.  She was uprooted from Fort Street, the old treasury building and now from the bypass road.  Although made to look like poison ivy the woman is actually a hardworking person with some six or more pickney, most or all of whom are in school.  She is making an effort to empower herself and be as independent as possible.  She thought that she could set up her business on the bypass road; out of everybody’s way but the Labour government hounded her down and confiscated her goods and equipments.
 
Ivy Adams apparently is not one of the fortunate lazy Labour supporters who could idle all day at a computer terminal in a government office then collect a pay check at month’s end.  While the Douglas Labour government is encouraging laziness and dependency on Church Street it is persecuting Ivy Adams, an example of initiative and industry.  Maybe Miss Ivy Adams was supposed to join the grass cutting gang, settle into dependency and easy fruitless gratification.
 
Ivy Adams’ story reminds of the SAM COOKE ballad, “A CHANGE IS GONNA COME”.  In that song Sam goes to the movies, goes downtown but somebody keeps telling him that he “can’t stay around.”  It is obvious that Ivy Adams cannot hang around at any place and do legal business.
 
Ivy Adams must have remembered the words of the Minister who told the public that the bypass road would be a good location to do business.  Obviously it’s not for Ivy to do business.  The whole nation will be looking to see what becomes of the spot once held by Ivy Adams.
 
The story of the bypass road is the story of the Nepotism, Corruption, Cronyism and Wastage characteristic of this Labour government.  The original plan and route of the road was ignored and businesses were allowed to relocate.  When the time came to build the road large sums were asked of the government if the businesses were to relocate and the lands purchased.  Because a blackhole exists on Church Street there is no transparency, the public is not to know.
 
All over this country, persons in the struggle against the poverty and hardship brought on by Dr. Douglas, are setting up food stalls.  Some are allowed to stay, Ivy has not been a lucky one.  The government and the planning board needs to provide the public with a sensible explanation of its policy.  This case clearly shows the heart of Dr. Douglas.  While he is able to take care of and educate his children, Ivy and her pickney must starve.  When Ivy went to Church Street her placard should have asked Dr. Douglas if she must become a prostitute.
 
Terry Adams has been public with a number of observations.  The SWEETMAN was allowed to put up a towering commercial building in a residential area, i.e., a commercial sugar plantation in a residential area.  This sugar plantation may not “ketch” fire but it is like we are experiencing a modern day CHARLIE BREADFRUIT.  Ivy Adams did not have any friends in the Labour Day March, her plight was ignored.  On Labour Day, Labour Ivy was not considered to be Labour.  More so, her plight as a worker did not touch anybody’s emotions.
 
The same sweetman has been allowed to build beyond the legal limit on our shores.  Frigate Bay Development, the planning board all became somnolent due to the sweet syrup.  Despite all the noise by the public the sager-induced sleep goes on.
 
Since the Labour Government took office the vendors have had a lot of knock-bout and exploitation.  The vendors were herded into a family building at the lower end of College Street and for a time felt secure.  Suddenly the vendors were given their marching orders.  While they were herded into the building, they were expelled and sent adrift.  Either that the family had made enough money off of the vendors/government or they saw a greater pasture.
 
The above case must be seen in the content of the CEMACO building on Central Street.  The money spent on the family building could have been used to modify the CEMACO building; it’s becoming a vendors’ mall.  Without any announcement of sale to the public the CEMACO building slid into the hands of a big Labour supporter, i.e., a higher caste Labour.  Ivy Adams is a yard for Labour.
 
In the end one must say that it is good that a local man got the CEMACO building.  If Bruce Lee had get in one drop kick a bit earlier the CEMACO building would have been gone.
 
Ivy Adam’s plight is not hard to understand.  Ivy’s hand is too poor, aint sweet enough, i.e. she is no sugar fingers.  Her index finger is only of value to Labour every five years.  Early in every one of the five years the godson makes a birthday.  If Ivy had the money to throw a party or a bush as it is now called, then she would not have been POISON IVY but Sugar(s) Ivy.  Ivy would have been able to sell anywhere, settle anywhere.
 
Ivy Adams cannot afford to write any check of ten, fifteen or even fifty thousand dollars and give anybody as a birthday present.  Ivy Adams does not go around with an apron pocket holding a check ready like Freddy to ice anybody’s birthday cake.
 
Also Ivy Adams aint get de kind of money to make a big contribution to the Labour Party or to pass through LEX CONSULTANCY LLC.  While LEX CONSULTANCY LLC has settled in Virginia all will be waiting to see where Ivy will settle.  The FEDS will follow LEX CONSULTING LLC wherever it goes in the same manner that Labour and the security forces are hounding Ivy Adams.
 
All the while Lawyer Anthony Astaphan and the others can stick their mouths in the National trough and feed and wag their tails.  Lord Cut was right in his “sucking Labour breast, the BIG DOGS BITING UP DE PUPPIES”.
 
Something just ain’t working for Ivy but the public will be keeping a SHARP EYE on the spot they kicked Ivy off.  IVY ADAMS is a hardworking woman with children but LABOUR IS MAKING HER LOOK, TREATING HER LIKE POISON IVY.
