| St. Kitts-Nevis delegation-Royalties, members of the Department of Culture on both islands, St. Kitts Tourism Authority, SKNIS, | Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 4th 2006 - CARIFESTA IX has ended with mixed reviews on its success. Regardless, the St. Kitts-Nevis delegation made the best of the opportunity and took away with it, invaluable experiences.
Celebrating our people, contesting the world stage was the theme for this year's event. Outside the performances, craft displays, film releases and more CARIFESTA's purpose is to re-unite the Caribbean people, placing us in one space to converse, laugh, exchange stories, share knowledge and to remind us that we are all the same and that we should look out for one another.
The St. Kitts-Nevis delegation experienced a wonderful level of camaraderie which will carry on beyond CARIFESTA. Loughlin Tatum and the youthful band Royalties shared their talent with the CARIFESTA audience and impressed all.
According to band member, Bailey, " I would not trade the experience for anything ... we were able to hold our own amongst some of the more experienced bands in the region. I would never forget that."
~~Adz:Right~~Performances by Royalties and Loughlin Tatum will be aired on ZIZ TV as part of the SKNIS update programme.
CARIFESTA X will be held in 2008 in the Bahamas.
