, ST. KITTS (APRIL 13TH 2004) - Thousands turned out late Monday afternoon for the traditional Easter Picnic at Black Rocks.
It was a day not only for comrades to meet and greet one another, but also to renew acquaintances with friends and family members from around St. Kitts and Nevis and greet visitors.

Organised by the governing St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party, the large crowd mingled with the party’s Political Leader, Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Denzil L. Douglas and their respective Parliamentary Representatives and Ministers in his Cabinet. Dr. Douglas was congratulated for his positive leadership of the Federation inspite of the fierce economic challenges world wide.

Draughts and dominos were mainly played by adults, while children enjoyed the moon walk and vendors reportedly did brisk business.

The Tornado Band and the Grand Masters along with a hi-fi provided entertaining music for the mass of young people, who stayed on well into the evening dancing to the pulsating sounds.

Very conspicuous at Black Rocks, was a large bill board with a photo of Prime Minister Douglas with the words: “Leadership that works for you.”
On Sunday, Prime Minister Douglas disclosed that continued leadership that works for the people is expected to be one of the major planks of his St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party in the campaign for the next General Election constitutionally due by March 2005.
He further disclosed that the Party will this Thursday night, kick off a series of Public Meetings in Lower Monkey Hill, St. Peters.
Dr. Douglas said the upcoming vote will be an election with a difference. “It is an election that will show that the (present Labour Party) leadership is working for you the people and working for your children. Strong leadership, not puny leadership. This country needs continued leadership as we will continue the progress for social, economic and political development that our people and this country needs.”
The St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party won all 8 seats on St. Kitts on March 6th 2000. The Labour Party received 64.2 percent of the votes cast on St. Kitts to the People’s Action Movement 29.4 percent.
In Nevis, the Concerned Citizens Movement received 52.5 percent of the votes cast while the Nevis Reformation Party received 47.2 percent of the votes cast on Nevis.
