On 5th October 2006, officers of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force and Defence Force carried out a search in the Olivees area. There officers discovered approximately five hundred (500) cannabis plants inside of a forty (40) foot container. The plants ranged from five (5) to six (6) feet in height and were hung from cords extending the length of the container. No has been made answerable for the find and investigations are continuing.
Also on 5th October 2006, officers of the Stapleton Police District discovered approximately two hundred and fifty (250) cannabis plants growing in the Parray Housing area. The plants which ranged from five (5) inches to six (6) feet in height were found on a plot of land approximately five hundred (500) square feet in dimension. No has been made answerable for the find and investigations are continuing.
At the Basseterre Magistrate Court on 5th October 2006 the following persons were convicted of traffic offences;
George 'Naddy" Welsh of Fig Tree, SandyPoint who was charged with the offence of "Careless Driving" was convicted and fined $800.00 in three (3) weeks or in default serve one (1) month imprisonment with hard labour.
