    BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, OCTOBER 15TH 2006 -
    CARICOM Chairman, St.

     

    Kitts and Nevis' Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas, has been invited to be the Guest Speaker at the Caribbean Institute of Studies 13th Annual Caribbean American Heritage Awards Gala in Washington, D.C. next month.

     

    It will take place on November 17th at the J.W. Marriott Hotel.

     

    According to information, Calypso Rose, of Trinidad & Tobago, will receive the Marcus Garvey Lifetime Achievement Award. 

    Calypso Rose blazed a trail for women in calypso with her hit "Fire Fire in mi Wire Wire" and was the first woman to be crowned Calypso Monarch.

     

    Lloyd Carney, of Jamaica, will receive the Outstanding Contribution to Corporate America Award. Mr. Carney has risen to the top echelons of corporate America serving as CEO of Micro Muse and now as President of IBM's NetCool Division.

     

    Judge Sylvia Radix
    Susan Taylor, whose father is from St. Kitts, will receiving the TrailBlazer Award. Ms. Taylor is beloved by women of African-descent around the world for her extra-ordinary contributions to empowering Black women as Editor-in-Chief of Essence Magazine.

     

    Judge Sylvia Hinds Radix, of Barbados will receive the Excellence in Public Service Award. A pre-eminent lawyer, Judge Radix is the first Caribbean American to be named to the Supreme Court of the State of New York.

     

    Allen Stanford, Friend of the Caribbean, will receive the Outstanding Corporate Citizen Award. 

    Mr. Stanford has contributed to the economic and social development of Caribbean through his philanthropic endeavors in Antigua as well as through his investments in regenerating interest in cricket.

     

    Carlton Masters, of Jamaica, will receive the Award for Outstanding Entrepreneurship Award. 

    As CEO of Goodworks International, Mr. Masters has brought the worlds of investment and corporate social responsibility together to create new ways of creating sustainable development in the Caribbean and Africa.

     

    Susan Taylor

    Tracey Neale, of Bermudan heritage, will receive the Award for Outstanding Journalism. 

    The winner of several Emmys for her ..... newsreporting, Ms. Neale is currently an Anchor at WUSA TV9.

     

    The event will be hosted by John Blake, Trinidad & Tobago, host of the Caribbean Experience, 96.3 FM WHUR, celebrating over 30 years of continuous broadcasting.

     

    Maureen Bunyan, Guyana & Aruba, news anchor, WJLA TV7 ABC affiliate.

     

    Besides Prime Minister Douglas, the other special guest is Sheryl Lee Ralph, National Spokesperson Caribbean American Heritage Month.
