Press Release
~~Adz:Right~~Charlestown, Nevis (October 16, 2006) -- Premier of Nevis Hon. Joseph Parry spoke out against an online publication which claims that Nevis has a high murder rate, with a total of 11 murders for this year.

"Untrue statements like the one in the Offshore Alert newsletter can be damaging to Nevis' offshore financial sector, future investments and the island's tourism sector. Our beautiful tranquil island cannot risk slanderous stories of any kind in the media

"Nevis, in the last 3 years has had only 4 murders. These accusations are malicious and deliberate statements which are contrary to our [Nevis Island Administration] knowledge that Nevis is a peaceful place", said Mr. Parry.

In the September 30, 2006 issue of the Offshore Alert.com the online publication stated that Nevis had a 93.75 percent murder rate per 100,000 persons adding that "Nevis is more dangerous than any U.S city."

~~Adz:Left~~The newsletter went on to state,"Nevis does not have 100,000 people, it never will, but their murder rate is totally out of hand.  If this carries on, it might be time to sell those vacation homes before a tourist or ex-pats get hurt, after which you will not even be able to give them away."

The publication then named a number of criminals including, Samuel "Ninety" Knowles, Vincent "Fatman" Gray and Charles "Little Nut" Miller who are all non-Nevisian.

Premier Parry is now seeking a retraction from the newsletter.
